Project Goal: To improve access to basic rights/needs of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) to be healthy, safe, schooled and stable in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.
Targets: The direct beneficiaries of this project include 7500 Pediatrics and Adolescents aged 0-17 years, pregnant women living with HIV, their caregivers and their households in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State.
Project Description: Accelerated Comprehensive AIDS Response for Epidemic control and Sustainability (⍺CARES) project applied an integrated Healthy, Safe, Schooled, and Stable (HSSS) framework to improve the well-being of 7500 vulnerable children and 2000 households in Buruku LGA. The project enhanced access to quality healthcare services through HIV testing and treatment, nutritional support, immunization, and referrals while promoting child protection through psychosocial care, legal services, and community-based safety mechanisms. It also supported school enrollment, attendance, and retention by providing educational materials and school-related assistance. In addition, the project strengthened household economic stability through livelihood interventions, vocational training, and financial empowerment of caregivers. Overall, the project delivers a holistic and sustainable approach to improving health outcomes, ensuring protection, promoting education, and fostering long-term family resilience in line with national development priorities.
