Caritas Gboko implements comprehensive programs across key thematic areas to address the holistic needs of communities in Benue State and beyond.
Caritas Gboko ensures that those in crisis/natural disasters areas are attended to their basic needs. For 14 years now, Caritas Gboko has partnered with donor agencies and philanthropists to provide humanitarian aid to vulnerable persons and households in a dignified, gender-sensitive, participatory and accountable manner across Nigeria.
In this area, Caritas Gboko ensures that, there is peace in all communities by organizing Peace and Conflict Resolution workshops for both Youths, Women wigs, Traditional and Religious Leaders.
Caritas Gboko implements comprehensive anti-trafficking interventions that protect vulnerable populations. And to provide holistic support services and sustainable livelihood opportunities for displaced persons and refugees.
Caritas Gboko advocates for laws, policies and social norms that prevent and respond to gender-based violence. And to deliver trauma-informed care and comprehensive support services for survivors of violence.
Caritas Gboko strengthens community-based health systems and improves access to quality, affordable healthcare and address the social, economic and environmental determinants of health and promote wellbeing.
To monitor, document and raise awareness about human rights violations and to empower local communities to claim their rights and meaningfully engage in decision-making processes.
To foster transparent, responsive, and accountable institutions at all levels of society and support Civil Society Organizations and build the capacity of citizens to engage in governance.
Caritas Gboko improves access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene services and to implement climate change adaptation and mitigation initiatives that build community resilience.
Caritas Gboko sensitizes people of their rights to vote and to shun vote buying and be actively involved in election.
Caritas Gboko ensures there is zero hunger and people have source of income generating revenue by organizing workshops on modern agricultural practices. Also by empowering farmers with modern Agric inputs.
Caritas Gboko looks after the welfare of the inmates. We have a Legal Aid department which comprises of Lawyers who solicit for inmates without lawyers. We pay fines for inmates with fines. We look after their spiritual wellbeing too by celebrating masses and the sacraments with them. The Bishop with his Priests and the Christian community in the diocese visits the Correctional Centre (Prison) every 26th day of December.
