Project Goal: To enhance community-based support for care and protection of vulnerable households in Tarka and Buruku LGAs.
Project Description: The SMILE Project (Sustainable Mechanisms for Improving Livelihoods and Household Empowerment) is a development program aimed at improving the well-being and economic stability of 15,000 vulnerable children and 7000 caregivers. It focuses on strengthening household livelihoods through skills training, savings and income-generating activities, while also supporting access to health, education, and child protection services. The project builds the capacity of communities and government systems to deliver sustainable social services. Overall, SMILE seeks to reduce vulnerability, increase resilience, and empower families to become self-reliant in Tarka and Buruku LGAs of Benue State.
