Application for Nutrition Program Officer – MAMI

1. Nutrition Program Officer – MAMI

Location: Gwer-West, Logo, Agatu and Kwande LGAs, Benue State

Role Purpose

The Nutrition Program Officer – MAMI will support the implementation of the nutrition component under the RAPID MAMI Project in Benue State, with emphasis on screening, referral, counselling, follow-up, community nutrition programming, and integration with other project sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Support quality screening of children under five, including infants aged 0–5 months for MAMI intervention and children aged 6–59 months for IMAM services.
• Ensure referral systems are functional for children and caregivers requiring additional services.
• Support MAMI counsellors to conduct follow-up visits for referred children.
• Support caregivers at risk to access MHPSS and other relevant services at community and health facility levels.
• Promote optimal Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition practices.
• Support identification, assessment and enrolment of nutritionally at-risk infants under six months and their mothers.
• Ensure malnourished children with complications are referred to stabilization centres.
• Work with Community MAMI Counsellors to enrol and counsel caregivers.
• Support registration and selection of eligible MAMI participants for food and non-food item distributions.
• Support vendor engagement, food disbursement, spot checks and post-distribution meetings.
• Support supervision of community actors and nutrition volunteers.
• Compile and submit weekly progress reports.
• Support Mother-to-Mother and Father-to-Father support group meetings.
• Provide counselling to caregivers of children with Moderate Acute Malnutrition.
• Support referral of malnourished cases to health facilities offering IMAM services.
• Participate in training of lead mothers and support group members on food demonstration.
• Provide capacity building to community nutrition mobilizers, promoters, health workers and counsellors on MAMI, MIYCN, IMAM and referral mechanisms.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Nursing, Community Health, Public Health, Nutrition, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years post-NYSC experience.
• Experience in nutrition and community-based programming.
• Experience in emergency nutrition work, preferably IMAM and MAMI.
• Basic training in IYCF-E / MIYCN.
• Good report writing and communication skills.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
• Fluency in English and local languages such as Hausa.
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently to field locations.

2. MEAL Officer

Location: Logo and Kwande LGAs, Benue State

Role Purpose

The MEAL Officer will lead the development and implementation of the project’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning system, ensuring quality data collection, data management, monitoring, reporting and learning throughout the project cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the project team in developing and implementing the MEAL system.
• Oversee routine programme monitoring activities including data collection, data flow management, data management and results reporting.
• Ensure the quality and relevance of monitoring and evaluation design.
• Support performance evaluation processes.
• Ensure quality of MEAL-related data collected during project implementation.
• Document MEAL results and produce periodic reports for donor and internal use.
• Assist programme teams in data analysis.
• Conduct monitoring and evaluation tasks and implement MEAL systems.
• Participate in training staff on MEAL data collection and processing.
• Support development of work plans and budgets for MEAL activities.
• Provide technical support to partners and enumerators to track project deliverables.
• Prepare tables, charts and figures for internal and external reporting.
• Provide administrative support as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Public Policy, International Development, Economics or related field.
• Certificate in MEAL, Statistics or Economics is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in an M&E / MEAL role.
• Experience designing and implementing project MEAL systems from start-up to close-out.
• Experience in indicator selection, target setting, reporting, database management and performance monitoring plans.
• Knowledge of qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method and impact evaluation methodologies.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of data processing packages.
• Experience managing and training MEAL field officers.
• Practical experience with KoboCollect, ODK, CommCare or similar digital data collection platforms.
• Working knowledge of CommCare, Red Rose and Power BI is desirable.
• Good writing, analytical, communication and organizational skills.

3. WASH and Shelter Officer

Location: Logo and Kwande LGAs, Benue State

Role Purpose

The WASH and Shelter Officer will oversee field construction, repair and rehabilitation works for water systems, latrines, showers and shelters under the RAPID Project in Logo and Kwande LGAs, Benue State. The role involves working with communities and contractors to ensure work is delivered correctly, safely, on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits to assess community needs for water facilities, latrines, showers and shelter repairs.
• Prepare simple construction plans, technical drawings, material lists and cost estimates / Bills of Quantities.
• Ensure designs are safe, accessible and inclusive, including for persons with disabilities.
• Support procurement teams to review bids and select qualified contractors.
• Supervise daily field construction and rehabilitation works.
• Inspect construction materials including pipes, timber, roofing sheets and blocks.
• Monitor contractors and workers to ensure compliance with schedules and approved designs.
• Issue site corrections when work is poorly done, unsafe or delayed.
• Check completed phases of work and sign off completion documentation.
• Conduct water quality testing at local water points and households.
• Ensure latrines, showers and handwashing stations are located in safe and appropriate areas.
• Work with community leaders and water committees to identify project sites.
• Listen to and document community feedback and complaints.
• Train local artisans, carpenters and water committees on repair and maintenance of facilities.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Maintain organized files of site notes, material receipts and photo records.
• Report major delays, technical problems or safety issues to supervisors immediately.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Building, Architecture, Geology or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience in construction supervision, water supply projects or shelter repairs, preferably with an NGO.
• Ability to use basic design software such as AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of water modelling tools such as EPANET is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Ability to speak Hausa and local languages used in Plateau and Benue States is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites.

4. Protection Officer

Location: Gwer-West, Logo, Agatu and Kwande LGAs, Benue State

Role Purpose

The Protection Officer will support the implementation of protection activities under the RAPID Project, ensuring that vulnerable individuals, displaced persons, women, children, persons with disabilities and other at-risk groups are protected from abuse, exploitation, neglect and violence. The role will also support case identification, referrals, community sensitization, protection monitoring and safeguarding mainstreaming across project activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Support implementation of protection activities in target communities.
• Conduct protection monitoring and identify protection risks affecting vulnerable populations.
• Support safe identification and referral of protection cases to appropriate service providers.
• Work with community leaders, women’s groups, youth groups and protection structures to promote safe reporting.
• Support awareness creation on protection, gender-based violence prevention, child safeguarding, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, and available referral pathways.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in handling protection-related information.
• Support establishment and strengthening of community-based protection mechanisms.
• Participate in safety audits and community protection assessments.
• Work closely with WASH, Shelter, Nutrition, MEAL and other sector teams to mainstream protection principles.
• Document protection concerns, activities, referrals and lessons learned.
• Prepare timely weekly and monthly protection activity reports.
• Support community feedback and complaints mechanisms.
• Ensure adherence to organizational safeguarding and protection policies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or HND in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Law, Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, Public Health or related field.
• Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in protection, GBV, child protection, safeguarding, community engagement or humanitarian programming.
• Knowledge of protection principles, confidentiality, referral pathways and survivor-centred approaches.
• Experience working with displaced persons, vulnerable households and community structures.
• Good communication, counselling, documentation and report writing skills.
• Ability to work in challenging field environments.
• Fluency in English and ability to communicate in Hausa or local languages in Benue / Plateau is an advantage.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
