Caritas Foundation for Justice and Peace, Gboko, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for various positions under its proposed project titled: “Building Bridges for Interfaith Harmony and Youth Resilience in Benue and Plateau States”
The project seeks to reduce identity-based and religiously motivated violence in selected high-risk Local Government Areas of Benue and Plateau States by strengthening interfaith engagement, youth resilience, local conflict-prevention coordination, early warning mechanisms, mediation systems, and community-based peace structures.
The project will be implemented in Buruku, Guma, Gwer-West and Kwande LGAs of Benue State, and Jos North, Bokkos, Mangu and Bassa LGAs of Plateau State for a period of 12 months, from September 30, 2026 to September 29, 2027.

1. Program Officer — Benue State
Location: Benue State
Level of Effort: Full-time
Duration: 12 months
Reports to: Project Director
Job Summary
The Program Officer for Benue State will coordinate field implementation of project activities in Buruku, Guma, Gwer-West, and Kwande LGAs. He/she will supervise Field Officers assigned to Benue State and ensure effective mobilization, stakeholder engagement, documentation, and follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate project activities in the four target LGAs of Benue State.
- Supervise Field Officers assigned to Buruku, Guma, Gwer-West, and Kwande.
- Support planning and implementation of interfaith dialogue forums and youth resilience workshops.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement with religious leaders, community leaders, youth groups, women leaders, traditional institutions, civil society actors, and local authorities.
- Support formation, training, and mentorship of Community Peace Committees.
- Monitor local conflict trends, early warning signs, and community security updates.
- Prepare field activity reports, meeting minutes, and documentation of community-level engagements.
- Ensure proper participant mobilization, attendance tracking, and follow-up.
- Support action-plan development and implementation tracking in Benue State.
- Work closely with the M&E Officer to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Peace and Conflict Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Development Studies, Public Administration, Religious Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in community development, peacebuilding, humanitarian work, youth engagement, or social cohesion programming.
- Good knowledge of Benue State conflict dynamics and target LGAs.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse religious and community stakeholders.
- Strong report-writing and facilitation skills.
- Ability to speak Tiv and/or other local languages will be an added advantage.
2. Program Officer — Plateau State
Location: Plateau State
Level of Effort: Full-time
Duration: 12 months
Reports to: Project Director
Job Summary
The Program Officer for Plateau State will coordinate field implementation of project activities in Jos North, Bokkos, Mangu, and Bassa LGAs. He/she will supervise Field Officers assigned to Plateau State and ensure smooth implementation of planned activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate project activities across the four target LGAs of Plateau State.
- Supervise Field Officers assigned to Jos North, Bokkos, Mangu, and Bassa.
- Support the implementation of interfaith dialogue forums, youth resilience workshops, peace committee activities, and coordination meetings.
- Engage religious leaders, traditional leaders, local authorities, youth representatives, women leaders, civil society organizations, and community influencers.
- Support the establishment and mentorship of Community Peace Committees.
- Track emerging risks, local tensions, misinformation, and early warning indicators.
- Prepare regular field reports, activity reports, and meeting minutes.
- Support participant selection, vetting, mobilization, and registration.
- Work with the M&E Officer to ensure timely and accurate data collection.
- Support the implementation and tracking of conflict-prevention action plans.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Peace and Conflict Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Development Studies, Public Administration, Religious Studies, or related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in peacebuilding, community development, humanitarian response, youth programming, or social cohesion work.
- Good knowledge of Plateau State conflict dynamics and target LGAs.
- Strong facilitation, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse faith and ethnic communities.
- Knowledge of local languages in Plateau State will be an added advantage.
3. Field Officers — Benue State
Number Required: 8 Field Officers
Locations: Buruku, Guma, Gwer-West, and Kwande LGAs
Distribution: 2 Field Officers per LGA
Duration: 12 months
Reports to: Program Officer — Benue State
Job Summary
Field Officers will support local-level implementation of project activities in assigned LGAs. They will be responsible for participant mobilization, community liaison, field reporting, activity documentation, early warning follow-up, and risk monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Support mobilization of participants for interfaith forums, youth workshops, peace committee meetings, and coordination activities.
- Liaise with community leaders, religious leaders, youth groups, women leaders, traditional authorities, and local actors.
- Support participant registration, attendance documentation, and follow-up.
- Provide regular updates on community tensions, security risks, rumors, and early warning signs.
- Support field-level implementation of project activities.
- Assist in documentation of activity proceedings, meeting minutes, and community feedback.
- Support Community Peace Committees in monthly meetings and reporting.
- Monitor and report local conflict trends and risks.
- Participate in field visits, pre-activity planning, and post-activity follow-up.
- Submit regular field reports to the Program Officer.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of OND, NCE, Diploma, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Peace Studies, Community Development, or related field.
- Experience in community mobilization, peacebuilding, humanitarian work, youth engagement, or field data collection.
- Good knowledge of the assigned LGA.
- Ability to speak the local language of the assigned community is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in difficult and sensitive environments.
- Resident in or familiar with the assigned LGA.
4. Field Officers — Plateau State
Number Required: 8 Field Officers
Locations: Jos North, Bokkos, Mangu, and Bassa LGAs
Distribution: 2 Field Officers per LGA
Duration: 12 months
Reports to: Program Officer — Plateau State
Job Summary
Field Officers in Plateau State will support community-level implementation of project activities in assigned LGAs. They will work closely with local stakeholders to support mobilization, documentation, early warning follow-up, and peace committee mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Mobilize participants for project activities in assigned LGAs.
- Support field implementation of interfaith dialogue forums, youth resilience workshops, peace committee meetings, and coordination activities.
- Maintain regular contact with community focal persons, religious leaders, youth representatives, women leaders, and local authorities.
- Support participant registration, attendance tracking, and documentation.
- Monitor and report local security developments, conflict trends, misinformation, and early warning signs.
- Support Community Peace Committees to meet regularly and document their activities.
- Assist in preparing field reports, meeting notes, and community updates.
- Provide feedback from communities to the Program Officer.
- Support conflict-sensitive and inclusive project implementation.
- Participate in pre-activity security and logistics planning.

5. Enumerators - Benue State

Duty Stations:
- 1 Enumerator for Kwande LGA
- 1 Enumerator for Buruku LGA
- 1 Enumerator for Guma LGA
- 1 Enumerator for Gwer West LGA
Reports to: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer through the Program Officer – Benue State
Works closely with: Field Officers and community focal persons
Minimum Qualifications
Each Enumerator should possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum of National Diploma, NCE, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, Peace Studies, Education, Public Health, Computer Science, or related field.
- Prior experience in field data collection, surveys, interviews, assessments, monitoring, or community research.
- Ability to use smartphones, tablets, KoboCollect, Microsoft Excel, or other digital data collection tools.
- Good understanding of ethical data collection, confidentiality, informed consent, and data protection.
- Ability to speak English and relevant local languages in the assigned LGA.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conduct interviews respectfully with people from different religious, ethnic, gender, and age groups.
- Attention to detail and ability to submit accurate and complete data.
- Familiarity with the assigned LGA will be an added advantage.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Enumerators will:
- Participate in enumerator training and orientation on project tools, ethics, safeguarding, confidentiality, and data quality standards.
- Support baseline assessment in the four Benue target LGAs.
- Administer structured questionnaires to selected respondents and project participants.
- Support pre- and post-event assessments during interfaith dialogue forums and youth resilience workshops.
- Support endline assessment to measure project outcomes against baseline data.
- Conduct interviews and assist in focus group discussions where required.
- Ensure informed consent is obtained from respondents before data collection.
- Collect accurate sex-, age-, location-, and religious-affiliation-disaggregated data where appropriate, safe, and feasible.
- Enter data using approved digital or paper-based tools.
- Review completed questionnaires for accuracy and completeness before submission.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect respondent information.
- Immediately report data collection challenges, inconsistencies, security concerns, or ethical issues to the M&E Officer or Program Officer.
- Support data cleaning and validation when required.
- Ensure respectful engagement with all respondents irrespective of religion, ethnicity, gender, age, or social status.
- Perform any other data collection duties assigned by the M&E Officer or Program Officer.
6. Enumerators – Plateau State
